Breast Reduction Surgery Bangalore, India
Breast reduction Surgery, also known as Reduction Mammaplasty, is a procedure to make a woman’s breasts smaller and more aesthetically pleasing. It may also involve moving the breasts to a better location on the chest.
Poor posture is a common problem for women who have particularly large breasts, which can lead to neck and back pain. This may make it challenging to engage in physical activities and perhaps result in psychological pain and embarrassment. Infections or rashes that appear in the folds beneath the breasts or the indentations left by bra straps can also cause severe skin irritation.
There are two techniques , Vertical scar reduction in mild to moderate reduction and Inverted T scar reduction in larger breast reduction. Certain measurements are made in the breast which help deciding which technique would give the ideal result.
Indication:
Women with the following are an ideal candidate.
- very big, fat and droopy breasts
- uncomfortable back, neck or shoulders
- larger or noticeably smaller areolas.
- unbalanced breasts.
- little mobility (physical activity).
- intertrigo(irritation or rashes under the breast skin fold) (irritation or rashes under the breast skin fold).
- uncomfortable bra use
Procedure:
Breast Reduction Surgery is generally performed under general anaesthesia.
Pre operative assessment and essential markings are done, including the incision line. Photographs are taken.
It takes 2-3hrs.
The surgeon will mark the incision lines on your breasts. The markers alter when you are asleep and lying down because your breast takes on a different form than when you are standing, that is why , preoperative markings are done in standing position.
The surgeon will then gauge the amount of breast tissue to be removed by measuring the height of the nipple. The inner and outer breast regions typically have extra breast tissue removed. When the extra breast tissue is removed, the skin’s margins will be roughly determined. The nipple is elevated to its new position. It is not separated from the surrounding breast tissue. After the procedure, a firm dressing and adhesive bandage is applied. Drainage tubes may be installed to remove any accumulated blood. These drains are typically removed within 1-2 days of surgery.
Side effects:
Swelling, bruising, seroma, hematoma, areolar loss, wound dehiscence specially at T junctions.
Recovery:
Depending on the complexity and nature of your treatment, you will be required to take a break from your daily exercises and routine for some weeks.
- The dressing and bandages are removed on third day after surgery.
- Minimal dressing is done and sports bra advised. This is worn for 2-3 months
- During the first week, excess fluids or blood should be drained.
- Aim for at least one to two weeks off work — if you have a physically demanding job, you may require more time to recover.
- Sutures are removed in seven to ten days and scar treatment advised
- Heavy lifting and exercises should be avoided for up to six weeks. After the first two weeks, you can begin light activity.
Results:
Breast reduction surgery is intended to produce long-term results. It’s also worth noting that breast size can change due to hormonal changes or pregnancy. Your breasts will continue to age normally after a breast reduction, but you will likely continue to see cosmetic and quality-of-life benefitted.
